Week of Sept 25-29

 What We Learned This Week

Literacy:

In literacy this week, we completed some writing based on the many events we had this week.  We read a story called, Shi-Shi- Etko, who is an Indigenous girl preparing to go to residential school.  She prepares to go to school by making a memory bag. We discussed what would go into our memory bags, drew pictures of different items that would remind us of home that we would put in our memory bags, and then wrote a sentence about why we put in each item.

Numeracy:

In math this week, we focused on comparing and ordering numbers and discussed how we know that number is greater/less than using our knowledge and understanding of place value.  We reviewed the vocabulary and symbols we use, greater than, less than and equal to. Then the grade 2's practised with numbers to 1000 and the grade 3's practised with numbers to 10 000.

Social Studies:
This week in Social Studies, we began some work with the Medicine wheel and it's teachings.  We reviewed the different colours, their meanings and teachings of whole body wellness.
